Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Serena LeMand and I am from Winter Park, Florida (just outside of Orlando). This is my first CollegeFashionista post and I could not be more excited! This fall I will be a freshman at Florida State University’s Honors College. I am double majoring in retail merchandising and product development along with marketing. Even though I grew up in a small town, I developed a love for fashion at a young age because I would always read my mom’s Vogue magazines. Eventually she caught on and gave me my own subscription. When I was in middle school, I made the switch from private to public school. This meant that I no longer had to wear the same uniform everyday, and I could finally express myself through the clothes that I wore. Throughout high school and now into college I have been able to transform and define my style.
I would describe my style as combination of classic staples and trendy accessories. I love to shop, but not after many hours on Pinterest looking for inspiration. When picking out an outfit, I look for tones that won’t wash me out (#palegirlprobs) and styles that I would feel confident in. I top off most of my outfits with trendy accessories such as a unique choker.
Dressing for fall in Florida can get tricky. The weather is boiling hot, yet we are still expected to conform to fall weather fashion. This outfit is an example of how I usually dress in the fall months. I am wearing a Free People sundress with shades of maroon. I paired this dress with a pair of tan sandals from Aldo and a black Rag & Bone cross-body bag. The outfit looks very “fall,” yet I can wear it and still stay cool in the 90 degree weather. This garnet outfit is also perfect for an FSU game day.
I am so thankful to be a part of the Guru Gang. I can’t wait to see what this semester has in store, but I know it will be #RAD!
