STYLE GURU BIO: Jessica Berenson

Hey all!  My name is Jessica and I am about to begin the second semester of my freshman year at Syracuse University.  I am an Undecided major in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a strong interest in Print and Digital Journalism, as well as a passion for fashion.  I am so excited to join the CollegeFashionista community for spring semester, and am looking forward to learning and growing with this great experience.

I have always had an eye for fashion.  I would describe my personal style as a combination of preppy and boho but I love to incorporate the latest edgy trends; I love to mix and match to create truly unique looks from the basics I manage to find in my closet.  I have never been a huge advocate for splurging, and am a self-proclaimed bargain hunter.  My favorite stores to shop in range from Urban Outfitters to Anthropologie to J.Crew and even the Gap, but don’t be surprised if you see me rummaging through the local thrift store.

Just being in college for one semester has given me the opportunity to evolve and explore my personal style.  I like to experiment with what I have however am embarrassed to admit that I’ve taken trips to the local mall more than enough times in a three-month span.

The outfit I’m wearing here is a perfect example for a casual day off or even to class.  A denim blouse is a staple for every Fashionista’s wardrobe and when paired with corduroy moto-jeans and a good pair of glasses, you get the perfect mixture of edgy and preppy.  When dealing with winters that are 20 below, layering is a must.  The way I see it, why blend in when you can wear a totally wow-factor jacket to finish off the look?

I look forward to continue taking risks with my style, for better or for worse, and to share my journey and explore new looks through CollegeFashionista for this upcoming semester.
