My favorite season is finally here! Spring is in the air at Georgia Tech and students are tucking away their sweaters in favor of sandals and sundresses. I love this time of year; it’s warm but not too hot to dress in some light layers without overheating. Plus, floral prints come back with a vengeance, much to my delight.
The Fashionista you see here wears a white floral dress with a blue floral fabric. On top of this is a light blue denim jacket that really brings out the flowers in the dress. She’s walking in comfort and strutting in style, sporting blue Adidas sneakers. What makes the outfit really pop is the brown bag she’s carrying. It contrasts quite nicely with the the blue tones of the rest of the outfit. This Fashionista’s makeup, too, matches the earthy tones of the tote. Even though this time of year is generally focused on pinks and pastels, she makes maroon lipstick look like it’s made for the springtime.
If you aren’t quite ready to retire your darker lipsticks, there are plenty of tips and tricks you can use. Go for earthy and natural tones that will provide your lips with a soft yet easily noticeable color. Use neutral shadows and nude tones to give your face a natural look that balances out the more striking shade of lipstick. If you’re looking for a more nuanced version of your favorite winter shade, you can use a light liquid concealer ($6) and apply it over your lipstick to produce a lighter color! It’s a great technique that allows you to maximize the utility of your lipstick during every season.
