It has become a go-to treat because it provides quick energy and is highly customizable, from your tea flavor to milk to toppings. Flavors vary to include Earl Grey, green tea, coffee, taro, and much more, and you can add jellies or other candies to amp up the flavor.
Bubble tea originates from Taiwan, but it isn’t just an Asian trend. Its customizable nature has expanded its popularity around the world. In fact, there is even a pop-up Boba Room Museum in New York City! It seems odd at first to those who have never tried it, but it is a unique sweet drink that could even replace dessert.
America is coffee-crazed, but bubble tea is quickly spreading all over, including Australia and the U.K. So, don’t let the different colors or the jelly-like additions weird you out; be open to new things. Plus, the fun colors make it super-Instagrammable. Most places that serve bubble tea tend to be cute cafés, so next time, grab a friend and instead of “Let’s get coffee!” let it be “Let’s get bubble tea!”
