WHAT TO WEAR: Class

The first month of fall has been uncharacteristically hot for Chicago, and though letting go of summer weather is definitely bittersweet, I’ve personally been pleading for cooler climate so I can finally tuck away my warm weather staples, pull out the the tights and turtlenecks and unbox the boots I’ve been itching to wear. Evidently my prayers have been answered, as this week ushered in chillier temperatures—one where I can actually wear a jacket without looking silly or sweating profusely on my 20-minute commute to the office. When actual fall weather hits, people tend to dress just a notch more pulled together—IMO. Maybe it’s the darker colors, the wool coats or the leather boots, but scouting for outfit inspirations becomes more exciting and everyday activities get just a little more picturesque.

This Fashionista’s outfit has all the elements of a perfect early fall look. She combines a basic cropped T-shirt with black cropped high-waisted trousers and flat leather booties. The monochromatic trio is accessorized with a braided belt and a minimalistic gold necklace. What really elevates this look however, is the chic stone colored duster. The fall statement jacket pulls the look together and adds contrast to the all-black ensemble. This outfit can easily be taken from class, to a lunch meeting, to the office and out to dinner and drinks as it is comfortable, versatile and polished with just the perfect amount of edge.

One Simple Change: Heading out with the girls after a long day of class? Trade in the flat booties for a pair of strappy pointed pumps and swap your school bag for a clutch or cross-body bag.
