I’m Yendi Noelle Reid and I’m a graphic design major at Georgia Southern University. I’m so thrilled to be a part of the spring 2013 CollegeFashionista team and I’m even more delighted to be writing for WHAT TO WEAR.I’ve always been interested in street fashion blogs and I’m anxious to show you how fashion-forward Georgia Southern University is. One of my main hobbies is fashion photography, which gives me an opportunity to document Fashionistas/os during their normal college routines.
Most of my fashion inspiration comes from people I encounter on a daily basis. Fashion trends come and go so quickly it’s hard to stick to one aesthetic. Choosing my outfit definitely depends on my mood. However, I also take a particular era into consideration when dressing. I often mix a vintage piece with something modern and trendy to give a unique effect. For example, I might mix a baggy sweater with leggings and add a bowler hat to top of the look. Famous icons I also get ideas from are Natalie Wood, Leslie Caron, Gabrielle Coco Chanel, Pier Angeli and of course Audrey Hepburn. You could definitely say I have an eclectic vibe when it comes how I dress.
I had the honor of attending Teen Vogue Fashion University 2012. Besides attending meeting tons of phenomenal students, I was absolutely blown away my the speakers I got to see such as Prabal Gurung, Grace Coddington, Erika Bearman (Oscar PR Girl), andLauren Berger. Meeting these prominent individuals gave me the right amount of motivation to apply for this internship and take my first step in to having the fashion career that I’ve always wanted.
Fashion is something I’ve always been truly passionate about and I hope being a part of this prominent website will kick start my career in the fashion industry. As a Style Guru, I hope my posts and the trends circulating around Georgia Southern will inspire you. This will no doubt be a priceless opportunity.
