To wrap up our week of international bloggers, we are heading to our sister to the north, Canada. Cara McLeay of “A Fashion Love Affair” has us in a fashion love affair of our own. From her boho locks to her enviable wardrobe of prints and patterns, Cara’s laid back, West Coat style is definitely inspired by her hometown of Vancouver, aka “Hollywood North.”
We caught up with Cara (who The Zoe Report dubbed as “the quintessential summer girl”) as she talked all about her hometown, fashion and her favorite cities abroad.
CollegeFashionista: How does your city inspire your style?
Cara McLeay: Vancouver is definitely a city with a laid back, West Coast style, which certainly influences my style. We are a city where you can walk everywhere, so being comfortable while still looking chic is the ultimate goal.
CF: What sets your city apart from others in terms of fashion?
CM: Vancouver is definitely an outdoor/active community, but it certainly has a “city” aspect as well. Vancouver fashion is wonderful because most fashion looks are also really wearable, which is the best mix!
CF: Why did you start your blog, and how has it grown?
CM: I started “A Fashion Love Affair” as a creative outlet where I could share my love of fashion and personal style with others, and inspire/be inspired in the blog community. It grew so quickly and has now allowed me so many amazing opportunities and the chance to connect and meet with so many wonderful people–it is a dream come true!
CF: What has been the biggest key to your success as a blogger?
CM: There are a few big ones for me. Being successful means working hard, and loving what you are doing! Staying true to your style and vision is also really important, and engaging with other bloggers and the community is a great way to grow and get involved.
CF: What city, besides your own, do you think has the greatest fashion?
CM: What a tough question! I am definitely a West Coast kind of girl, so I love the laid back, chic look of LA style. New York is super sleek and high fashion, which I also really love. And you can’t not include Parisian style–classic and fabulous!
