WHAT TO WEAR: Workout

July 5th, 2016 at 2:00am

At Ohio University, staying active is not only something we value, but a part of our every day life as well. Our hilly campus gives us a workout daily (whether we want to or not), and the beautiful surrounding parks, lakes and hiking trails allow for all kinds of fun in the sun! With all this, us OU students generally know what it takes to “glam-up” typical workout wear. While we still appreciate the classic t-shirt-and-running-shorts combo, there is nothing like putting on a pair of leggings.

Pictured here, this lovely Fashionista decided to wear a pair of leggings with a little twist––a pop of purple! As it is summer, there’s nothing wrong with spicing it up, even in your workout looks. Lululemon––a company notorious for their quality leggings that combine style, comfort and fit––carries a beautiful pair of of leggings in the unique color of deep zinfandel. While these aren’t your classic black, they work very well with a white, gray or black workout top––such as the top this Fashionista sported! Also from Lululemon, The The Five Mile Singlet is a flowy, light take on the typical “sporty” tank top. Perfect for the summer heat, this top is extremely versatile. This Fashionista used the versatility to her advantage, sweating in style with a popping pink sports bra––in a shade that just screams bring on the summer.

This season is the perfect time to spice up your workout wardrobe––I’m sure you can agree that sweat and that nice blouse don’t go well together. Owning a few different sporty but cute pants/leggings/shorts, tops and sports bras will drastically change how you put on clothes in the morning. Sweat is in this season, so we may as well work with what we’ve got!

One Simple Change: Want to wear this outfit to an early breakfast or brunch with friends? Simply swap out the tennis shoes for a pair of gladiator sandals, Vans or Sperry Top-Siders, for a comfortable yet playful look. That change will immediately signal that your focus has switched from gym wear to day wear. If you still want to keep the added comfort of tennis shoes, do your hair in loose curls instead of pulling it back, giving it the same comfortable-yet-cute vibe!
