WHAT TO WEAR: Workout

Summer is the perfect time to start working out…or get back on track! With school cleared off our plates, many of us have a few less obligations and a little more spare time. I say, why not use that time for something that makes you feel and look your best… am I right ladies?!

Now, if you’re not blessed with warm weather year-round like us spoiled Californians, you may want to try exercising outdoors this summer! If you enjoy cardio, you can test out different running routes to get a varying level of difficulty or a change in scenery. If you’re into strength training, you can take a yoga class in the park and breathe in that fresh air during each inhale.

Keep in mind, if you are going to exercise outdoors this summer, there are bound to be plenty passers-by. I don’t know about you, but I’m not trying to be seen by my crush running around town in my high school gym uniform. Working out is the perfect time to dress to impress because when you look good you feel good and when you feel good you just might have the extra confidence and motivation you need to run that extra 20 yards to hit a mile or hold that difficult pose for three more seconds.

However, exercising outdoors during the summer also means facing possibly extreme levels of heat. Therefore, when it comes to your clothing choices, it’s best to find the happy medium between cute and functional so that you don’t melt before you even get started.

This Fashionista dressed for success for her Hollywood hike today! Her beautiful lavender tank is a great choice because its thin material makes it breathable. The scoop neck is also a very flattering cut. Her shorts add a fun and unexpected element to the ensemble with the animal print waistband. The length and the subtle cutouts on the sides of the shorts make them perfectly functional for a sweltering summer day. Her sneakers coordinate perfectly with her top, creating a thoughtful ensemble. Her bracelets and anklet are appropriate workout accessories because they won’t be jingling as she hikes. Lastly, it looks like this Fashionista decided to keep her hair down for that perfect Instagram photo at the top of the hill. With so many functional elements, she gives herself the ability to make the decision to work the down-do. This girl is sure to catch the eye of just about every passer-by on her hike!

One Simple Change: Running errands after a workout, but don’t have time to change? Throw on a pair of Birkenstock sandals for a more comfy, casual look.
