WHAT TO WEAR: Workout

Now that summer has finally arrived, there is only one thing on every girl’s mind: bikini body. You have been pretty consistent all semester with making frequent gym trips and slipping in the occasional salad between all the late night cheeseburger binges, but you underestimated how quickly the warm weather would come. Summer has become a season of personal reinvention for many college students; whether it is in style, health or careers, this is the time to work on you. We are all guilty of following those #fitspiration accounts on Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr, and we are driven by the idea that we will enter the new school year looking hotter than ever before. However, things get in the way and time flies. If becoming a gym rat is on your to-do list this summer, make it count! Set goals, and push yourself hard. Here at CollegeFashionista, we encourage you to be the courageous young woman you have always wanted to be, just with a little more style.

This Fashionista is gym-chic and ready to kill that workout. Usually looking from head-to-toe, we are going to start from the bottom up. Her white Nike Roshes give her a clean and classic summer footwear style. Bonus: the white really brings out the tan in her legs! She pairs her new kicks with adorable blue camouflage spanks. By the way, spanks are a definite summer workout must-have, making your legs look toned and long while giving your tush a perky push-up. Lastly, she is wearing a black spandex top with multiple strap details on the back and a bandeau style in the front. I love this look.

Workout gear has evolved tremendously over the past few decades. From leg warmers and leotards to Lululemon and Nike, gym clothes have become a fashion statement of their own. No one wants to show up in the gym in a frumpy old T-shirt and holey leggings, no way. You are working hard for your body, so why not show it off? Go bold with crazy patterned leggings, or go sexy with a backless tank. The gym is your fashion playground. Own it! Show up in an outfit like this, and you’ll finally have the confidence to give the hunky weight lifter in the corner your phone number.

One Simple Change: Going to meet the girls for lunch or have a couple of errands to run? Throw on a pair a slouchy track pants, an off the shoulder pullover and a sneaker wedge to take this look from gym to casual weekend wear. No one will be able to tell the difference.
