Now that the semester has officially come to a close, that means it’s time to pack up the car and head back home for the holidays. What I love most about the holiday break is the fact that I can look back on the semester and think about all the fun I had, spend time with my family and recuperate after a stressful exam week. My break generally consists of flannel pajamas, my couch and cuddling with my dog, as it does for most college students. So, it’s easy to fall into a fashion rut while away from campus. But, it is important to stay on your fashion A game, even while at home for the holidays.
I spotted this Fashionista out and about on the town while she was home for winter break. What immediately caught my eye about this look was the lovely color combinations. A huge trend right now is pastels for the winter season, and this Fashionista does that perfectly.
Her pale pink knitted sweater is the perfect comfy sweater to wear when relaxing at home. Paired with navy biker pants, her pieces are simple and totally wearable, but still have a certain cool-girl edge. Since it is winter, after all, she adds a light charcoal parka to keep her warm on these chilly winter days.
But, what really brought this look home for me was her impeccable accessories selection. Who said white and cream were only acceptable in the summer? This Fashionista added a printed scarf and a simple pearl necklace up top to add a touch of sophistication to her ensemble. She finished off the look with a cream, studded tote and classic brown riding boots.
Winter break is a great way to unwind after a tough semester. Feel free to sleep in, overindulge on sugary snacks, spend time with friends and family and bring in the new year. But, with that said, keep in mind that break doesn’t last forever. Take this free time to go on the hunt for new pieces to help you tackle second semester with style. Just because you are on break doesn’t mean your sense of style has to go on a permanent vacay!
One Simple Change: This look is great for the quickly approaching holidays, but by swapping the pants and boots with tights and a skater skirt, this look is perfect for a girl’s night out!
