WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

January 19th, 2016 at 2:00am

Cold winter weather is best spent inside, curled up with a blanket where you can stay warm. However, because getting to class requires going outside, Fashionistas everywhere are forced to deal with (and eventually battle) the elements. This Fashionista shows you the perfect way to stay warm while still looking chic this winter season.

This Fashionista wears an essentially monochrome outfit with black being the predominant color for a streamlined look. To break up this trend and add a pop of color, she pairs her black skinny jeans with a burgundy turtleneck sweater. She adds a leather jacket for an extra layer of warmth, a lifesaver during the low temperatures in Indiana. A leather jacket is a versatile piece that can be used to dress up an outfit or simply pull the whole thing together in a cohesive way.

Accessory wise, the Fashionista adds silver jewelry including a necklace, earrings and rings to complement the black color of the majority of her outfit and reflect in the sunlight. Finally, she wears a pair of black Chelsea-style boots with silver buckles that complement her accessories. Chelsea boots are everywhere this winter as they are the perfect boots for everyday wear.

This outfit is perfect for that transitional period between seasons where it isn’t cold enough to wear a full-on winter coat and scarf and glove combo, but still cold enough to wear turtlenecks. The Fashionista elegantly embodies the season through her outfit and ensures that she will be comfortable all day long.

One Simple Change: Trade out that jacket for a cardigan and the turtleneck for a lighter top and you’re ready for a Saturday morning brunch!
