WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

Oh the weather outside is…still frightful. Braving the cold and rainy season in the Pacific Northwest can be hard but this Fashionista proves otherwise. Colorful raincoats are popular within the Northwest but this Fashionista shows how you can stand out among the sea of colorful plastic. Ditch the raincoat for a leather jacket this season to add a little toughness to your wardrobe and show the weather who’s boss.

Dressed in a simple striped T-shirt, jeans, a pair of boots and a leather jacket, this Fashionista pairs the basics together this winter to conquer the cold. Her shirt adds just enough interesting detail to the look and paired with a white beanie, she keeps her head warm in the cold weather while still staying on-trend. The leather patches on the elbows of her shirt, along with her motorcycle jacket, reflects Portland’s style.

Details are important as well. My favorite accessories this Fashionista added are her custom-made ring, spiral earrings and knit hat. All of her jewelry is handmade and resembles another element of Portland’s character as locally made items are very popular here in this region. Believe it or not, it’s possible to look fashionable and fierce this winter without looking like a drowned rat in the rain.

One Simple Change: This Fashionista looks great for a day of going to winter classes, but what if she wants to incorporate this look into her spring wardrobe? One way to change this outfit into an upcoming spring look would be to switch the dark jeans out for some light colored jeans, possibly light yellow or pale blue pants to add a springy hue.
