WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

Getting yourself up and out of bed on brutally cold days is always a challenge, and let’s face it, you probably have to bribe yourself into changing out of your fleece pajama pants. I think it’s safe to say that most of us are tempted to just live in sweatpants and sweatshirts for the duration of the winter months. While this may be the easiest option, it’s definitely not the most appealing one. While sweatpants are comfortable, they certainly aren’t flattering or fashionable. There are plenty of trendy and comfortable winter outfit options out there that will keep you toasty on the coldest days and today’s Fashionista displays a prime example of one.

Even in the snow, this Fashionista managed to look very nicely put together. You may think that it doesn’t matter what you wear while you’re a college student, but it does. Your college years are the best time to network and make contacts for the future. You really never know who you may run into or what opportunities may arise on any given day; it’s important to always look presentable so that you’re ready for any situation. This Fashionista stayed warm by layering a black top under a long red cardigan. The colors were perfect for the season, and cardigans are an easy way to combine warmth and trendiness. She tucked her jeans into a pair of combat boots complete with boot socks, which served as both a layering piece and a little extra warmth for the snowy day. Boot socks are very popular right now because they add the perfect touch to any ensemble. They can be worn over leggings and jeans or over bare legs with dresses and skirts.

Today’s Fashionista topped off her ensemble with a black pea coat which was refreshing in a sea of The North Face fleece jackets that can be spotted all over college campuses. Wool coats provide warmth and are also a great way to dress up an outfit. As for jewelry, this Fashionista has donned her favorite Alex and Ani bracelets and a cute ring. Charm bracelets are a great way to show off your personality and tend to be a conversation starter as well. I also loved that her hand and wrist jewelry drew attention to her hands because her nails matched her cardigan. Little details like this are much more noticeable than one may think. In conclusion, if you’re looking for an easy alternative to your favorite sweatshirt this winter, the ensemble displayed by today’s Fashionista is a great model.

One Simple Change: This outfit is also a great weekend wear option. All the layers have a casual but put together vibe. It’s a look that’s comfortable but not sloppy. Add a big tote bag to carry your wallet and gloves and you’re ready to run all your weekend errands!
