WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

Its that time of year again! The Christmas songs are off of the radio and second semester is right around the corner. Not only do we have to be prepared for schoolwork again, we also have to take the winter temperatures into account. The chilly weather requires us to be armed with the right clothing—especially in college. Are you stressed about what you’re gonna rock on the first day of your brand new schedule? Don’t sweat (or shiver?) it, there are plenty of ways to be comfortable for your daily trek around campus while also looking polished and put together.

This Fashionista nails the balance between comfortable and polished with her look. She starts the look off with a soft cream and burgundy striped sweater, coupled with a pair of dark wash jeans. “The jeans and sweater are loose and comfortable enough for a stuffy lecture hall but warm enough for walking to class,” our stylish Fashionista instructs me. She adds an adorable pair of brown leather riding boots to her outfit, as well as some knit leg warmers underneath to add an extra layer of warmth and style. The warm brown hue of the boots goes well with her striped sweater. Riding boots are great for winter because they keep the snow off of your feet while allowing you to look fashion-forward.

Over her sweater and jeans combo, our Fashionista wears her favorite gray Michael Kors peacoat. The steely gray color of her coat looks great with her skin tone, and offsets the warmer colors included in her sweater and boots. The wool gives the look a fun texture when contrasted with her knit sweater. Additionally, the structured fit and zipper detailing give her look a more professional vibe, which is great for making a first impression in the new semester. When her hands get cold, this Fashionista slides on some cream colored knit mittens to keep her hands toasty and warm.

To incorporate some sparkle into her outfit, she added a gold and cream statement necklace. Statement necklaces are great for dressing up a look that would otherwise be more casual. This statement necklace in particular is very versatile, and can be worn on many occasions. The sparkle and shine of the necklace adds polish to this Fashionista’s great look.

One Simple Change: Colder outside than you were anticipating? Switch out the necklace for a cozy scarf and add some cute fluffy earmuffs to keep the windchill at bay.
