WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

October 23rd, 2015 at 2:00am

When I think about fall, I instantly think of my endless amount of flannels, beanies and boots. Plaid flannels are my go-to shirts, wearing them around my waist, over a T-shirt or on their own. I’m not the only one who seems to be obsessed with plaid. All college students seem to be wearing plaid, letting the fall vibes set in.

Whether we like it or not, winter is coming and its getting colder outside. At the University of Delaware, day parties are extremely popular and are the best place to see fashion trends worn by students. Every weekend, girls have their outfits already planned, excited for the potential instagrams that will be taken. Everyone brings out his or her best outfits for the weekends. When we first get back to school, everyone dresses in their crop tops and dresses, hoping to make summer last. As it gets colder, it becomes harder to dress fashionably for these outdoor parties and still stay comfy and warm. It’s hard to not hit a fashion slump, dressing in leggings with a sweater and calling it a day.

This Fashionista has got day parties covered! She wears a plaid dress and booties, which is perfect for the occasion. She is able to keep warm in her long sleeves and boots while still staying trendy and stylish for the parties. What initially drew me to her outfit was the plaid. Plaid is such a popular pattern for the fall, but I rarely see it in the form of a dress! Plaid is usually seen on flannels around campus, so seeing plaid on a dress really stands out. Wearing a plaid dress is a great way to incorporate plaid into your outfit without wearing a flannel! These booties keep the outfit looking more formal, which is a great way to transition outfits from weekday to weekend wear.

One Simple Change: If you want to wear a plaid dress to class, try pairing the dress with low-heeled boots instead of booties. Try throwing a sweater on over the dress, to make the look more casual.
