WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

After a long week of dressing up for internships or jobs, it’s nice to relax and unwind on the weekends. Weekend wear, especially for guys, tends to be casual. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t still dress your best, even if your weekend plans don’t extend past Netflix marathons on the couch.

When it comes to men’s fashion, it seems that you can either be fully dressed up or totally casual, with not too much of a middle ground. You seem to only see button-downs and pressed chinos or graphic T-shirts and sweatpants. However, for weekend attire, this middle ground is the perfect place to go. Mixing a casual T-shirt with colored chinos provides the perfect balance of casual and classy, which is appropriate for any situation, from a basketball game to date night.

This Fashionisto pulls off the “weekend casual” look with ease. His outfit stays relaxed, but it allows him to still look put together. His breezy, loose shirt keeps him comfortable and the pocket on the front (a “frocket”, if you will) is totally on-trend right now. The color combination of the blue shorts and red shirt works well, and the white socks keep it balanced. His surfer-inspired hair further channels the relaxed vibe, looking effortlessly put together. This Fashionisto is someone who would look at home on a beach in SoCal or on the quad at any college. And that’s really the goal of weekend wear—to be able to work for any situation you get yourself into because whose weekend ever really goes as planned?

One Simple Change: As the weather gets colder, swap out the shorts for jeans in a fit of your personal preference.
