Oh the infamous Beetle Juice stripes; everywhere you turn there seems to be some kind of garment with this poisonous pattern. Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Nicole Richie and many other celebs have been spotted in this bold trend. You could argue that looking like you’re in a prison jumpsuit isn’t the best fashion statement. But when done right these back and white stripes can make you look “bad” in the best way possible.
This Fashionista did the Beetle Juice stripes just right. Although it is a sheer button down top, the jailhouse pattern along with the high-wasited shorts, thigh high’s and combat boots bring out her edgier side. What’s cool about this top is that it is two-tone. The front is a chambray material while the sleeves and back are cotton. Different huh? This gives the shirt the elegance of chambray with the comfort of cotton. It’s a win-win-win with this fashion forward and fancy yet comfortable top.
This blouse was purchased at H&M. The shorts this Fashionista is wearing are from Cotton On. I’ve said it before and ill say it again, do yourself and your wardrobe a favor and buy a pair of black high-waisted shorts. They can be worn with literally every top in your closet. The excuse “I have nothing to wear” won’t work anymore when you own a pair of these. And last but not least my favorite sock/shoe combo: the thigh-high socks and the combat boots. Wearing thigh-highs with high-waisted skirts or shorts adds a little spice to your outfit. It’s the weekend, blow off some steam and turn the head of every guy at the bar looking fierce in a pair of thigh-highs.
Whatever you’re up to for the weekend an outfit like this will do just the trick. With a bold trendy top, basic high-waisted shorts and some eye catching foot action, what could go wrong?
One Simple Change: Wearing black with these jail house stripes is an edgy way to rock this trend, but if you want to glamour it up a bit add in a pop of color. Since the stripes are the most basic of colors, black and white, you have complete color freedom when it comes to what to match with it. Feeling sexy? Wear red. Feeling happy? Wear a bright fun color. Feeling grungy? Stick to dark colors. For a night out on the weekend, replace the black shorts with a fun colored A-line skirt. Which ever color you choose you’ll be sure to stand out!
