WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

January 26th, 2015 at 2:00am

If you live in New York, you know that the most important thing of the weekend is brunch. After a stressful week, nothing is better than hanging with your friends and catching up by grabbing a bite to eat. Why not do it in a stylish outfit crafted just for the weekend? We must remember the golden rule of fashion: dress to impress. Even though it is just a quick bite to eat, Fashionistas/os never step out looking anything less than stylish.

This Fashionisto knows exactly how to do it. His look is effortless but chic at the same time. All eyes are on him as he strolled through the streets of Manhattan in his gray crewneck covered by his oversized blue sweater. His accessories say it all, with his strap from his watch matching his rust-colored boots to his bluish-gray backpack pairing with his navy jacket. From his Forever 21 slate beanie to his Steve Madden boots, he was dressed to perfection.

As college students, we cannot always get the looks we desire for the prices we want. So our best choice is to explore all of our options. Find your influence from a celebrity, designer or magazine and take a walk to your local thrift shop and find the pieces that suit you. That is what this Fashionisto did; he strolled over to his favorite thrift shop on First Avenue called No Relation Vintage. His jacket is a near replica of Prada’s navy wool bomber jacket and less than one-fourth of the price. As Macklemore would say, “Savin’ my money and I’m hella happy that’s a bargain.”

One Simple Change: When the weekend sadly comes to a close and it’s back to the books, switch up the look with joggers and a Nike or New Balance sneaker to create a comfortable look that’s perfect for the library.
