TGIF: Thank goodness it’s Friday, which also means that it’s the weekend! After a long week of going to school, being the best at work and staying professional at your internship, it is about time that you got a couple days to relax and recharge. The weekend is such an unpredictable couple of days that takes you from adventure to adventure with just the need for fun being your guide. With fun being the main aspect on your mind, no one wants to worry about his or her outfit getting in the way.
When planning an outfit for the weekend there are two elements that a Fashionista or Fashionisto should keep in mind. The first aspect is if the outfit is versatile. Weekends are unpredictable and sometimes you may not get the opportunity to change from day to night. The outfit you choose should be able to be worn during the day and then changed just a tad to be a chic night look. The second aspect is comfort. The weekend is about being carefree, easy and breezy. Creating an outfit that relates these themes will ensure that you won’t be bothered by what you’re wearing.
Our Fashionista this week utilized both of these elements perfectly and created an outfit worthy of the weekend. Our Fashionista started out with one of my favorite pieces, which is the maxi skirt. Taking into account our two elements of weekend wear, a maxi skirt is brilliant. This piece can be worn with a light blouse during the day to venture around but then can also be worn with a biker jacket and top to go out to dinner in the evening. Usually skirts are created with cotton, which guarantees comfort and is still designed to flow with your body. Maxis are a great for any body type and with an array of pattern and color, they are a sure way to express your style. With the Aztec print being a huge trend right now, our Fashionista utilized a classic piece with a modern twist.
Next, she just added a basic black tank. Since the print and volume of the skirt is so loud, it is better to add a neutral core piece so the outfit doesn’t seem too busy. If the shirt was in a print, the bottoms should be the basic piece. One piece should be the showstopper with all other pieces accenting it. The tank is perfect because it is lightweight and slimming, which complements the volume of the skirt.
After a grueling week of dressing professionally, kick back and let the weekend give you the fun you need, especially while looking fabulous. When all the adventure is over, don’t be too upset cause there is always next weekend to show off another weekend wear look.
One Simple Change: Try a loose fitting blouse and tie it in knot either in the front or side with flip flops to create a fun in the sun beach look.
