I’m afraid to call it too soon, but I think the sun may be starting to shine a bit more brightly on the streets of New York City. I was reluctant to leave my heavy winter coat at home over spring break, but the warmer weather alternatives that I returned with seem to be doing the job. In the transitional seasons, it’s all about layers. As the sun comes out or the rain rolls in, you can readjust accordingly.
This Fashionista keeps it simple and classic with a versatile weekend outfit. The look can take her anywhere from homework in the library to coffee with friends. For busy weekends on campus, I personally like the laid back look of all basics paired together in a unified way. You can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans in a medium wash. Her boots are also a great staple. I have a similar pair of Frye boots in that chestnut brown; I don’t think I have taken them off my feet since late September! Everyone should invest in a great pair of boots to carry them through the colder seasons. They look great with everything from tights to pants to over-the-knee socks.
This Fashionista does a great job with layering on top. A muted gray sweatshirt looks comfortable and casual under an army green fatigue jacket. I absolutely love this rugged cotton style for outerwear. It adds a bit of color and is a phenomenal layering piece.
The simple accessories this Fashionista wears complement the look so well. The gradient denim bag with leather straps adds a fun boho feel. It is roomy too, perfect for navigating an unpredictable weekend. I also love the addition of a class ring! It offers a great collegiate feel. A nice French manicure doesn’t hurt her style either!
A loose side braid brings the look together, making this Fashionista look laid back, friendly and approachable.
One Simple Change: In case of a rainy day, opt for this longer version of a fatigue jacket. It would pair perfectly with high socks and rain boots!
