WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

The academic year has ended, and since most of us find ourselves filling our schedules with employment, internships and/or volunteering, the weekend is our sanctuary for socializing. That fabulous two-day period where we can relax a bit and get away from that  work, work, work. Summer weekends are unique due of the multitude of outdoor activities that take place, and also for the creativity that comes from having to style outfits that stand up to the contentious summer heat.

This Fashionista has gone for a bohemian-inspired outfit to stay both chic and comfortable. Her dress is loose-fitting, which gives an effortlessness to the look and provides a way to stay cool in the summer sun. Its ’90s-inspired pattern and texture showcases the return of the ’90s trend as well.

To accessorize, this Fashionista wore a pair of aviator sunglasses and added a fringe cross-body bag, making this look perfect for any music festival or concert. Her long necklace adds a delicate touch to the outfit, as well. Her wedges are also a summer classic. Wedges elevate an outfit, both literally and figuratively, by adding a formal element to an otherwise casual outfit.

One Simple Change: To swap up this laid-back look for a more formal event, consider adding a bright-colored blazer. The bohemian fringe could be implemented in a clutch, rather than a purse, and a statement necklace added to dress up the outfit. A strappy pair of heels would also be great for a summer date night, or a night out with your friends.
