WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

There’s a million and one things that I love about attending the University of South Carolina, but one of my favorite things is its close proximity to Charleston, South Carolina. If you’ve never been to Charleston, well then I’m sorry and I highly suggest that you go as soon as possible. The streets are full of character, color, adorable cafes and restaurants, amazing shopping and all things southern charm, plus there’s a beach just minutes away. This city truly has it all. But, to attend a city of such splendor, you need to dress the part. This Fashionista knows how to do just that.

In fashion, I believe that there are many ways to make a statement. In my opinion, nothing makes more of a statement than a perfectly put together all-black ensemble. It’s chic, it’s classy, it’s timeless, it’s everything. It’s also a careful science. You can’t just throw together anything black and call it good. You need a subtle, but complementary, variation in colors paired with carefully selected accessories.

For example, in this Fashionista’s outfit she pairs a simple black T-shirt with dark wash denim jeans. She elevates this simple look by high-cuffing her jeans and accessorizing with heeled booties, a gray felt hat and the perfect black sunnies. Just like that she has a perfectly chic and comfortable outfit for a weekend in the city.

This is the biggest key in weekend wear I think. It’s incredibly important to find a careful balance between comfort and style, a balance I strive for in my everyday life. Whether your weekend consists of brunches with the girls, shopping your favorite shops and farmers markets, studying in your school’s library, nights out on the town or all of the above, you know you want to look your best while simultaneously being comfortable.

One Simple Change: Have a busy day of errands ahead of you? Swap the heeled booties for flats or sandals and you’re good to go.
