WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

I have always loved florals as a pattern. There’s nothing quite as romantic or delicate as some beautiful flowers sprinkling your outfit. Florals are also unique in that they can be paired with lace and pastels for a more feminine vibe, or you can juxtapose them with black leather and darker hues for a more masculine feel. While florals are typically seen as something that should only make an appearance in your wardrobe during the spring or summer, I believe that you can make the pattern work with the right color palette and proper layering.

This Fashionista worked the winter weekend wear look with a pair of floral leggings. Floral leggings are a fun way to stay comfy, yet they still have an element of pizzazz in the outfit. To ensure that her florals aren’t too springy, she paired her leggings with a dark red sweater. The color creates an overall warm hue and is a great way to stay warm during the cold Chicago winters.

To round out the look, this Fashionista threw on an adorable jeweled necklace and a pair of heeled black booties. If you’ve spent any time around me or if you’ve read any of my previous posts, you know that I preach the importance of having staple wardrobe essentials, particularly in neutrals like black. Having a pair of simple black booties ensures that you have an easy way of dressing up any winter outfit. This ensemble is ideal for taking this Fashionista through Saturday afternoon errands or Sunday morning brunch!

One Simple Change: Want to dress this ensemble down a bit for class? Consider swapping out the booties for a simple pair of flats, sling your favorite tote on your shoulder, and you’re good to go.
