Escaping campus for the weekend is a guaranteed way to unwind and alleviate some of the stress brought about by the end of the school year. If you’re coming from New Haven specifically, a quick day trip is all you really need to venture out to New York City or even stay closer by and go shopping in Greenwich. These types of excursions are prime opportunities to grab a couple of friends and have a fantastic time. This week’s Fashionista wears a relaxed but chic outfit that is perfect for any destination.
Her fitted white tank top is the ideal layering piece, on top of which she wears a wheat-colored open front cardigan. Its chunky knit pattern and draped style balance out the slim proportions of the rest of her outfit. The standout piece, however, is her vibrant red jeans, cuffed a couple of times at the bottom for a more tailored approach. Her shoes are cream snake print gladiator sandals. Subtle animal prints are an unexpected way to add depth to your wardrobe this spring. To accessorize, she combines a simple black tote with a number of eclectic bracelets (a super cute arm party!), tan watch and thin ring.
What I love about her style is that she experiments with complementary colors and textures. For example, the boldness of the jeans’ hue truly pops against the neutral foundation set by everything else. The colors are not competing for attention with one another. She wears an understated but stylish ensemble effortlessly, an essential skill for any Fashionista!
One Simple Change: If you’re adapting your outfit to a casual night out, change into a pair of leather leggings for a sophisticated look.
