WHAT TO WEAR: Vacation

January 19th, 2015 at 2:00am

The much-anticipated winter break that we look forward to all semester has unfortunately come to an end. Hopefully, you got to take a break from the stress from school and relax with friends and family when you were home. If you were really lucky, you got to travel to a warm place and escape the bitter coldness of mid-winter. If you didn’t get to go away though, you got to experience the snow, slush and freezing rain that are synonymous with this time of year. Thankfully, winter attire is oh so chic and easy to layer up for extra warmth.

This Fashionista is rocking a great outfit for her last couple of days home of winter break. To keep warm, she is wearing a dark olive green coat with a fur hood and toggle closure detail in the front. The coat features two sets of pockets; one set for odds and ends, the other set for your hands to shield them from the chilly weather. Under the coat, she is wearing an oversized chunky knit sweater and a chambray button-down. The layering in her outfit is key for staying comfortable going from overly heated buildings to the below freezing weather. For pants, this Fashionista chose a black pair of black knit pants, like leggings, but thicker. Her brown riding boots are a classic wardrobe staple as is her black quilted bag. Simple jewelry is key when you’re dressing on vacation. Who wants to worry about excessive accessories when you’re supposed to be on a relaxing break? Simple studs do the trick as well as a dainty necklace that reps her home state of New Jersey. There’s no better way to show your home pride than by wearing it around your neck for everyone to see.

One Simple Change: You’re hanging out with your high school friends and your parents call and want you to meet them for dinner. No problem! Just throw your hair up in a topknot, put on some red lipstick and try a sparkly necklace tucked under the collar of your shirt. It’s a quick change to take your look from super casual to dressy casual, perfect transition for day to night.
