WHAT TO WEAR: Vacation

As the hot summer months are slowly coming to a close, many of us are cramming in last minute trips and vacations, holding onto the hot weather and sunshine as long as we possibly can. With the summer heat at its peak, it is important that vacation wear is light, breezy and comfortable along with being completely fashion-forward. Vacation is not the time to sacrifice comfort for style, but this Fashionista proves that there is no need to give up one for the other.

This Fashionista’s ensemble consists of a bright and breezy shift dress, simple flat sandals, subtle jewelry and of course, sunglasses.  A shift dress is the perfect vacation staple because it can be packed to be worn for multiple vacation excursions. Dressed down, it is light and airy enough for a walk on the beach. Dressed up and worn with wedges, it makes for a bright look for a waterfront dinner. This Fashionista pairs her shift dress with beachy beaded bracelets and layered necklaces. The subtleness of the jewelry allows it to be noticed, but it does not overtake the bright print of the dress.

Although it may be tempting to pack our entire summer wardrobe in our suitcase when we go on vacations, it is usually neither practical nor is it possible. Packing for vacations should consist of picking pieces that can be worn with multiple outfits and on multiple occasions. Shoes can be the most difficult item to fit into a suitcase, so simple sandals are a staple in order to keep packing to a minimum. Flat sandals in a neutral color go with anything and everything, and are a must for summer trips. Last but not least, what would be a summer trip without some stylish sunnies? This Fashionista’s mirrored frames complete her outfit flawlessly.

One Simple Change: While the bright shift dress may be fabulous for a vacation at the beach, it is a completely versatile piece. Throw a blazer on top of your shift dress and swap the sandals for a pair of ankle boots—you will be ready for a day at your summer internship!
