Your college years are a great time to travel. You’re young and able, and other than classes you probably don’t have many responsibilities! I am not really one to talk when I say you should try not to overpack, but I’ll stick to this line anyway. Believe me, I totally understand that you want to have all your clothes and jewelry because you must be prepared for any situation. However, it’s just not realistic. Pack a few simple outfits and you’ll be fine!
Temple University is surrounded by a wonderful city. Philadelphia is so rich in history, sights, shopping and nightlife. It’s a very popular tourist city and you can always find travelers carrying maps and cameras. I spotted today’s Fashionista at Love Park—a cute spot that all visitors must see! She met my simple outfit requirement which is why I chose to photograph her. Her simple dress was very vibrant and had a floral print that was perfect for summer. I absolutely loved that she matched her lipstick to the shade of purple in her dress. She looked pretty and trendy but didn’t need to waste too much of her sightseeing time applying makeup. Her black sandals were flat and suitable for walking. They had studs on them which made them a little edgier. Her purse was the perfect size for carrying a map and souvenirs, but not too bulky to be holding all day.
Be realistic when traveling. You want simplicity and comfort. A loose fitting dress is the right way to go because it will look nice in the photos you show your friends back at home, but won’t be too fussy and uncomfortable to be wearing all day. This printed dress from ModCloth is great because it stands out a little bit. Just like today’s Fashionista, you need a versatile bag. This pouch from Urban Outfitters is a good choice. Always stick to shoes that are worn in and comfy. Flat sandals or closed shoes like TOMS shoes or Keds make good traveling footwear.
One Simple Change: Just because this outfit is simple doesn’t mean it’s not cute! You can definitely wear this outfit at home when you’re out and about on the weekend. Step it up a little bit with a pair of small wedges and lots of rings! If you’re feeling adventurous (while still stuck in your hometown), you could add more bold makeup and hair accessories into the mix.
