WHAT TO WEAR: Tailgating

Boulevarding (verb): A fancier version of tailgating for students at Southern Methodist University.

The majority of the student body does not put on T-shirts to show their school pride on game days. Instead, students dress to impress. Girls wear dresses and rompers. Boys wear button-downs, khakis and, for some, critter pants.

Girls, like this Fashionista, love to pair cowboy boots with their game day attire. Make sure to invest in some good cowboy boots. Partying in them all day and cheering on the football team can take a toll on your feet. Make comfort a priority.

Her dress says SMU, with its blue and white color palette, and gives off a Southern elegance. Prints are also great to wear. They add more personality to your look. Many people tend to wear solid colors: red, blue or white. So wear prints to allow yourself to stand out from the crowd.

An important thing to remember about your game day attire are accessories. This Fashionista chose to wear jewelry. She is wearing a necklace, rings and bangles from Stella and Dot. The jewelry gives her a finished look. She is able to represent her Greek affiliation with a monogram bracelet.

Showing Greek pride is essential to boulevarding culture at SMU. Many girls wear sorority buttons. Greek organizations put their wooden Greek letters on the quad near their tents for photos.

One Simple Change: So what if you want to go on a nice date right after the game, but you don’t have enough time for a full makeover? There are a few things you can do. Swap the cowboy boots for a pair of pumps. Also, pair this new look with a clutch purse and keep the jewelry.
