WHAT TO WEAR: Tailgate

October is my favorite month of the year. The temperature begins to dip, the leaves change colors, Halloween is almost here and it’s Homecoming season! I used to love Homecoming in high school  because my dance team would always do a special routine and, of course, I loved getting ready for the dance. But Homecoming is way more fun in college. At my school, and at most schools in the South, Homecoming marks the biggest tailgate of the year. With this fun event, you want to look your best. This Fashionista had a few great ideas on how to stand out in the crowd on one of the biggest weekends of the year.

At football games, boots are a must. It seems to always be a little rainy on game days, and it can get really muddy. It is also getting colder and you don’t want your toes to freeze in a pair of sandals! Boots are the best all-around weather-proof option for game days, and trust me, your feet will thank you later.

A solid color dress in either your team’s colors or a neutral tone (depending on your accessories) is a classic. The bow detail on the back of the dress adds a unique flair to this Fashionista’s outfit, and makes this outfit different than the plain, solid dresses everyone wears. An easy way to accessorize a neutral color dress is a bright statement necklace in your team’s color(s), a bold lip in one of your team’s colors (if it is red, maroon, or even orange, this could work!) or even earrings in your team’s color!

I liked how this Fashionista sported her colors in an understated way: a colored lip and gold hoop earrings. If you wanted to add more flair, you could even throw on a scarf or a lace halter bralette in a school color under the dress. The accessorizing options for this occasion are limitless!

One Simple Change: Add a pair of colored or patterned tights for a put together look for class!
