WHAT TO WEAR: Summer

June 11th, 2015 at 2:10am

You know the saying “April showers bring May flowers?” It seems that as May comes to a close, the April showers are showing no sign of letting up. This unfortunately brings fluctuating weather, from unbearable heat one day to jacket worthy temperatures the next. Luckily, this Fashionista knows how to stay cool in this comfy, classic summer outfit!

This look is ideal for summer picnics or spending the day as a tourist in your own city. She added a twist to a breezy, tank top blouse by tying up the ends into a knot. This is not only  a trend that has recently become popular, but is guaranteed to keep any Fashionista cool even on the hottest of days. Midi skirts have also become popular on the runway and can be dressed up or down for day to day life; plus they come in plenty of summer-ready colours or prints.

This Fashionista kept it casual, yet put together with a chambray skirt in a darker denim wash. To keep things light, she pulled out a small gem of a cross-body bag that she found rummaging through a local vintage shop. To block out the sun, she wore her favourite cat-eye sunglasses that pull the whole look together. Finally, since Toronto involves a lot of walking, she relaxed in flats and was ready to tackle the city.

One Simple Change: This look could be easily adapted for a fun date night! Rock a chunky heel or wedges, and let your hair down for a romantic evening. Whether you stop in for a drink at the local bar or catch a summer concert, you are sure to stay cool and look it too.
