WHAT TO WEAR: Summer

I love my dark colors, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t deny the joy I get when summer rolls around. I just hear the birds chirping more around this time of year. Although I’d be fine with autumn as our only season, summer brings a sense of light into the days. Being raised in a place where it’s basically summer for 80 percent of the year, one has to get used to a more colorful scheme of fashion (which is tougher than you think for someone who has a hard time not buying black). I actually love seeing dainty sundresses and floral rompers going from day to night with a flip of a shoe or lip color. As the saying goes, I can’t wait to talk about tonight over brunch tomorrow.

I saw this Fashionista upon arrival to a weekend brunch with friends. Brunching has become quite the phenomenon, and personally—I am so glad. Who doesn’t like the sound of sleeping in, putting on a great outfit to meet friends or family and then being able to eat the best of both breakfast and lunch worlds…I mean foods? Anytime I have a brunch to attend, I replay all six seasons of Gossip Girl in my head. Where’s my penthouse and routine Sunday brunch?

Summer is the perfect time for a Fashionista to showcase her use of colors and patterns. The alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection showcased a lot of coral and blue-shaded florals and this Fashionista’s dress is spot on to the trend! Along with her floral-mirrored dress, she styled black Tory Burch sandals, a black and gold chain cross-body bag and some gold arm candy with midi rings to complete her look.

One Simple Change: I’m loving the city strap trend with sandals right now; if it has an ankle strap then I’m there. Try these low-heel sandals to perfect this summer assemble. To go from day to night, I’d throw on a flowy khaki wrap coat and some mauve lipstick to put together the look.
