WHAT TO WEAR: Summer

Summer is here and that means breaking out of the classroom and into the city. The warm weather is perfect for uncovering hidden beaches, biking new trails and exploring your surroundings. The Twin Cities are a backdrop for endless summertime adventures.

I spotted these two Fashionistas wandering the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. After meandering through the outdoor installations and taking pictures with the quintessential Spoonbridge and Cherry, the two were off for a round of mini golf on the Warhol inspired course.

Both Fashionistas are sporting girly rompers, a summer wardrobe staple. Rompers offer the whimsy of dress but the practicality of shorts. They are breezy enough for the summer months and are a quick piece to throw on when running out the door.

The first look is built off of a ethereal blue and white floral romper from Forever 21. The colors are light and airy for heading into summer. She paired her look with a pair of black Birkenstocks and a black Longchamp backpack. Every element of her look is suitable for a day at the museum, from her comfortable shoes to the small backpack for carrying around essentials. The backpack enhances the air of playfulness she evokes.

The second look is centered around a black romper from Cotton On. A neutral romper is a base piece from which countless outfits can be created from by tossing on a sweater, hat or accessories depending on your mood. She finished the look with a black leather cross-body purse from Charlotte Russe and a pair of Crown Vintage sandals.

These two ladies are ready to take on summer in style!

One Simple Change: Heading from day to night? A flirty romper is an ideal base piece for transitioning from a day of exploring to a night out with friends. Simply swap out your sandals for a pair of heels or wedges to instantly amp up your look and add some drama. If you still need a little va va voom to your look, add on a statement necklace and you are out the door.
