WHAT TO WEAR: Springing into Spring

The Devil Wears Prada is basically a bible in the fashion world. The fashion humor is something that hits home for many Fashionistas/os. As Miranda Priestly sarcastically said, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” Though this statement is humorous, for many, florals are the ultimate spring staple. The transition from winter to spring can often be awkward, especially in Kentucky. One day the weather is sunny and 65 degrees Fahrenheit, then the next day it’s pouring rain. You always have to expect the unexpected.

Finding a way to transition your winter clothes into a new spring wardrobe is key to killing the style game. Your neutral, comfy, and cozy winter wardrobe has to be quickly changed to bright and light colors. Switching out your wardrobe piece by piece can make the transition much easier. It can save your bank account and you will thank yourself later for saving some extra cash.

I spotted this Fashionista on her way to a meeting because her floral skirt immediately caught my attention. The bright background of the skirt with the dark purple flowers subtlety pulls in the new season. Although the skirt is floral, the dark purple flowers don’t immediately scream springtime. She transformed her chunky black sweater into a spring must-have with her bright and cheery skirt.

The addition of her simple silver rings and pearl necklace add a classy and elegant touch. Since her sleeves are long and don’t allow for bracelets to be shown, she amped up the jewelry with laying her silver rings. Simple everyday jewelry is a staple I believe everyone should accumulate. It personalizes every outfit and lets your personality shine through, even when wearing a T-shirt and jeans.

For makeup, she applied only a few coats of her favorite dark lip to keep her makeup looking bright and ready for the new season. The outfit is topped off with her beautiful tan booties which brighten up her look and add character. While boots are often looked upon as a winter essential, they are perfectly paired with her floral skirt.

Replacing one item at a time when transitioning seasons is the key for a smooth change. The seasons may be changing, but your bank account balance doesn’t have to. Pick out some favorite pieces from your winter wardrobe and reinvent them into spring.
