WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

There’s nothing more flattering than the color black, and this spring we’re taking it up a notch and making it a staple color for your wardrobe. Monochromatic style is with us for another season, and it’s a great way to mix up your outfits and try new things.

For ways to style this trend, we look to Vera Wang’s spring 2015 collection and Givenchy’s spring 2015 collection. Vera Wang’s consisted of black and other monotone colors. Her mix of dresses, jumpsuits, rompers and sheer fabric can make the perfect outfit for mild weather. Givenchy’s take was edgier and featured textured pieces with cutouts and booties. The different styles reflect the versatility of the trend.

Channeling her inner Vera, this Fashionista pulls off the monochromatic look with ease by pairing a chic blazer on top of an embroidered romper. Don’t have a romper? Create a faux one by pairing shorts with a nice top that is tucked in, making it hang just right.

Since we need so many books for classes, invest in a big tote instead of backpack to add functionality to your look. This tote is great for carrying books and any other essentials. Sandals are a great way to travel in style across campus without hurting your feet or budget.

Accessories are huge part of any outfit, but they go beyond a functional bag and nice jewelry. Your makeup is as much a part of your outfit as a necklace is. This Fashionista proved that theory by pairing dark lipstick with her outfit and blending the two togerther well.

One Simple Change: For a date night, trade out the tote for a classy clutch to add chicness to your outfit. Swap the sandals for black wedges to lengthen your legs and you’re set.
