I caught this Fashionista selling cotton candy at the Blogger’s Closet Sale at the Village Gate in Rochester. I instantly fell in love with her pale pink shift dress and thought it would be perfect for a day of shopping.
This Fashionista’s dress is a perfect length, hitting at mid-thigh so that she is covered but cool as she walks around. It has a loose and boxy fit that is trendy and comfortable but doesn’t drown her in material. The short sleeves hit at a flattering part of the arm and don’t constrict her so that she can reach for whatever she wants to try on. My favorite part of the dress is the subtle floral embroidery across the chest, adding a spring/summer vibe and giving the dress special detail.
This Fashionista accessorized with a dainty “H” necklace that adds personality but won’t get in the way as she picks out new pieces for her wardrobe. Her fringed moccasin boots add a bohemian touch, which is always on-trend during the summer. Her booties will also cushion her feet during a long day of walking. Her dusty blue oversized bag is perfect for storing money, receipts or even bags if she doesn’t want to carry them all. Its casual shape goes perfectly with the laid back vibe of the rest of the outfit.
When going shopping, comfort is of utmost importance. If your clothes are constricting or you are too hot or cold, you will want to head home before you pick up all the items you need. This Fashionista shows that you can still look chic while staying cool and fuss-free for a day of shopping.
I love the idea of a shift dress like this one for shopping. It’s a grab-and-go garment that requires no thought and still looks polished. For shoes, definitely go for flats that cover your toes so the air conditioning doesn’t freeze your feet. A purse is definitely essential for your cash and cards. One with a long strap allows you to wear it cross-body to keep it out of your way as you wander through the racks.
