WHAT TO WEAR: Shopping

What to Wear

They say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but I disagree. Someone needs to rewrite that song and swap diamonds for shopping. I could shop for days and not be sick of it. If you ask your female friends and family if they love shopping, the large majority with reply with a resounding “yes.” As materialistic as that may sound, shopping is a great way to blow off steam, relax, celebrate or just kill boredom (bank account willing.)

Perhaps it is just because I am a bit of an over-thinker, but I often spend far too long figuring out what to wear shopping. You want to look presentable because you will be out and about, but you need to remember you will spend a great portion of your time in and out of dressing rooms. You may want to throw on your cutest dress and tights, but pulling your tights on and off is far too much work for a day that should be fun and carefree.

This Fashionista keeps it cool with a denim button-down and stretchy plum pants. Something that I have found to be useful is wearing a plain tank top under your shirt when shopping, as our Fashionista displays. Lacy and sheer tops are trendy right now, but wearing your own tank top underneath gives you a better idea of what it’ll look like realistically. A button-down is easy to get on and off without touching you hair. Denim is an easy way to add some flair to a simple blouse. Colorful pants are a great way to stand out and spice up your outfit in the winter, as wearing the same boring blue and black jeans gets old. Combat boots often have convenient zippers in the back which also add to the ease of this shopping-ready outfit.

One Simple Change: Here in the Midwest, random heat waves are common, especially in the upcoming months. On such a day, simply change the pants for an interesting pair of shorts. I really like these because of the button detailing. The boots will now serve to protect you from the mud while you show off your legs.
