I’m a huge sports fan. I grew up in an athletic family, and being the only non-athletic person in the family had its perks. I love to watch sports; any sports and all sports. Football, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, you name it. My parents say I’m a great fan, which makes up for my inability to catch a ball, “see the field” (sports term) and play effective defense. With all of this, it may come as a surprise to you that I chose George Washington University, a school with no major sports and not much school spirit. Think again! This year, the GW men’s basketball has made serious history with a record of 18-4 and a chance to make it to the NCAA Tournament. And thus, the school spirit comes out to play.
I spotted this Fashionista sporting her trendy look with some added school spirit. Her grungy ensemble begins with her George Washington University sweatshirt, followed by her flannel that is wrapped about her waist. The infinity scarf, calf socks, Nike leggings and sweet kicks finish off the cool look. This Fashionista’s outfit is simple yet chic with her way of dressing around her subtle school spirit, not to mention her hair is simply fabulous.
While I understand if you don’t want to go around campus decked out in your school’s colors and logos, there are ways to make it trendy and cool, just follow this Fashionista! A sweatshirt is always a great school spirit trademark. You can show your support and be comfy at the same time, plus they’re super easy to layer up. Like this Fashionista, a scarf is a fabulous addition to top off the sweatshirt. If you don’t want a grunge look, steer clear of the flannel. Instead, to add a bit of edge, throw on a pair of skinnies and knee-high boots. A beanie would be a great accessory to top off the look and keep you warm on those chilly walks to class.
School spirit never goes out of style, so be sure you’re wearing your school colors proudly and dressing them well.
One Simple Change: To switch it up, swap out the leggings, flannel and kicks and add in a pair of dark skinnies and strappy black pumps. You can totally dress up a sweatshirt enough for a perfect weekend look.
