While nearly every part of the country enjoys frequent rain showers and the opportunity to sport around a pair of printed rain boots, Fashionstas/os of Southern Texas can only dream about such purchases. Forced to suffer through nauseating humidity and intense sun rays, making our way to class is usually an uphill battle. But on the rare occasions where our bipolar forecast does cooperate, our beloved leggings and yoga pants just don’t seem to have their old appeal. Rather than following suit with the gloomy weather, there is nothing more refreshing than donning your most vibrant pieces for a day riddled with on and off showers.
On a day of spontaneous rainfall, I spotted this Fashionista donned in an ensemble essentially perfect for a day filled with endless drizzle and hair wrecking humidity. To make the muggy weather a little more bearable, take a note from this Fashionista and give a breezy chiffon top a spin. The light fabric and avant garde cut-outs are the easiest route to looking chic and comfortable rain or shine. Instead of opting for the usual cut-offs or tired denim jeans, take a note from the runways (as well as this Fashionista) and sport around a pair of printed trousers. Similar to the comfort of leggings, yet strikingly intricate (and definitely more pleasing to the eye), there is no going wrong with a fresh take on a classic pair of pants. With the addition of your favorite rain-proof backpack and an umbrella on stand-by, gearing up for your next rainy day will be a breeze (sans leggings, of course)!
One Simple Change: Planning to meet your significant other’s folks? Swap the backpack for an oversize clutch and trade the flats for a pair of sensible heels to ease those first impression jitters!
