WHAT TO WEAR: Rainy Days

What to Wear

Although April has left, its showers are still hanging around. Lately, there have been weeks of straight torrential downpour, leaving very little style options. When it’s raining, sandals, flats and canvas shoes are completely off limits and a raincoat is a must. It also always gets a bit chilly, especially in the early spring, so an outfit with pants is usually the safest option. All of these requirements for rainy days don’t leave us much to work with, but this Fashionista shows us how to style the perfect outfit for a very soggy day.

The ensemble pretty much has to be built around a good coat because, whether you like it or not, one has to be worn. This Fashionista’s gray wool coat is perfect for fending off the rain and cold wind. She then has a bright red sweater on under the coat and layers it with a blue polka dot collared shirt. Personally, I think the best way to wear a sweater is to layer it with something. It’s such an easy way to make the outfit a little bit more interesting.

The jeans that this Fashionista is wearing are a very smart choice. No one likes cold raindrops on bare legs. She was also very smart in choosing her shoes. Her black leather Chelsea boots are perfect for rain. If she happens to find herself stepping in a puddle, her socks will be spared from being soaked.

On gloomy days, it’s always a good idea to dress in bright colors. There is enough gray in the world so adding some primary colors with a sweater, a backpack or a shirt can always help boost a mood.

One Simple Change: If the weather clears up and the sun starts to shine, take off the coat and put on a denim circle skirt instead of jeans for an adorable look for class!
