The skies are gray, the winds are bracing and there’s not a dry surface in sight. It’s a rainy day in Peoria, Illinois. Bradley University students veil themselves under the colorful umbrellas dotting campus. The steady rain is a clear sign that April has officially arrived.
When it’s gloomy outside, it is easy to hide in a dormitory and catch cabin fever. Challenge that instinct. As college students it is our civic duty to make time for fun as well as academics. Put on rain gear and frolic outside. Pull on those rain boots and jump in puddles, take a walk or indulge in one of my all time favorite college activities: mud sliding. Don’t miss the chance to make an amazing memory just because of a little rain.
That being said, I feel that extra points should be given if you manage to be stylishly appointed on a rainy day. This Fashionista dons a charmingly classic ensemble perfect for combating the doldrums that often accompany rain. Her stone hued trench coat gives her a clean and streamlined appearance with its double lapel and cuffed sleeves. A crisp white button-down shirt peeks out from under the trench coat. She couples the trench coat with jeans in a dusty wash, making her outfit seem more accessible. Black combat boots cover her feet and coordinate nicely with the rest of her apparel.
The Fashionista accessorizes with a tortoiseshell watch and a gold monogram necklace. Her red lip adds a welcome pop of color to the otherwise neutral ensemble. Her black Longchamp bag sits on her shoulder.
Rather than wasting a rainy day, get out and enjoy the fun that it may bring. Wear something that you feel great in, and don’t forget a cute umbrella.
One Simple Change: Switch out the jeans for a classic gray pencil skirt. Next, substitute the combat boots for fashionable flats. With these small tweaks, this outfit is now perfect for a job interview.
