April showers brings May flowers, and well, Ann Arbor seems to be no exception to this old saying. As the month of April starts full swing, we can definitely predict a forecast of at least a few rainy days. But should this be a cause for your closet to worry? Definitely not. In fact, rainy days are the perfect time to bring out some special pieces and get crafty with ways to stay warm and dry. Although we all have our go-to rain gear of Hunter boots and North Face jackets, it is nice to step out of our rainy day comfort zone and create looks that are stylish while still upholding utilitarian purposes.
And of course, I have found the Fashionista with the perfect look for a chic rainy day. She wears a green army jacket with quilted leather sleeves. The jacket also comes equipped with a hood, an obvious necessity if you are without an umbrella. Also, the slick material of the jacket and even the sleeves allows the rain to leave this Fashionista while she stays cozy and chic. She also wears a thick pair of black leggings. Although almost any style of pant would work on a rainy day, choosing one of a darker color that will hide any raindrops is a must.
To finish off the look, this Fashionista layers adorable red boot socks underneath a stylish pair of gray Steve Madden boots. It is true riding boots are not always our first choice when choosing footwear on a rainy day, however, by layering her boots with a thick pair of socks, this Fashionista can be assured that her feet will stay dry and her walk to class will be comfortably stylish. She tops it all off with a cute, yet sturdy black and brown bag. The color blocking goes perfectly with her industrial-style jacket and the large size of her bag will help keep her things safe from those burdensome raindrops.
Rainy days can always seem like a never-ending drag. However, you can turn any rainy day sadness into stylish bliss with some unique, rain-approved pieces. Get styling Fashionistas/os!
One Simple Change: As the end of the winter semester nears and summertime is visible on our calendars, a few concerts and festivals may be on the agenda. For a rock-chic concert look, try sporting a simple black skater dress underneath the military jacket and exchange the Steve Maddens with some combat boots.
