WHAT TO WEAR: Rainy Days

What to Wear

Recent weather in West Lafayette has been unpredictable and like a roller-coaster. It could be 55-degrees today, yet tomorrow go down to one-degree. However, one thing remained constant: we experienced a week-long of rain. I’m a fan of this rainy weather–romantic and relaxing–because it reminds me of the old classic song that goes, “Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain, pitter-patter, pitter-patter.”

I caught this Fashionista on the way to grab a coffee. It was a lazy afternoon, so her cozy, yet classic, ensemble was perfect for a drizzling day. I admired her pair of vintage brown mid-heel boots and her leather satchel bag. Stunning vintage accessories, like this Fashionista’s, always make you unique amongst the crowd, especially on a rainy day. Her sophisticated matching of color with fabric made her outfit stand out, too. Besides her brown boots and vintage bag, she wore a white and gray wool scarf and a pair of matching socks. A trend that I am a sucker for is the over-the-boot socks, which are a warm and modern choice with an outfit. For the Fashionistas who are not the type to rock a pair of typical rain boots, they can wear regular boots that have a small heel. The little heel earns them an extra style point, even if they are waterproof and easy-to-go like rain boots. Add a dimension to your outfit, as well as an element to keep you dry, by layering a long monochromatic cardigan underneath a comfy parka. Don’t forget a simple vintage piece either!

One Simple Change:  Her dark blue parka is a good choice for a causal day or at work. Yet substitute the parka for a more feminine coat when you plan for a fantastic date night.
