WHAT TO WEAR: Parents Weekend

What to Wear

When we left home for college, the last thing we thought we’d be looking forward to is parents weekend. Once you’ve done your own laundry and experienced dining hall food, you start to appreciate your parents much more. Parents weekend means free food from a nice restaurant and a few quality days with mom and dad.

While your normal weekend attire might be sweatpants and a Starbucks coffee, your parents do not want to see this. Take a note from this Fashionista and dress for the occasion. I am not saying pull out the most formal gown in the closet but a put together outfit can go a long way in impressing your parents.

This Fashionista has put together basic pieces to create a cute fall outfit. A loose fitting gray T-shirt, dark wash skinny jeans and brown boots give her look a relaxed feel. To keep warm, she wears an army green jacket and adds a pop of color is with a coral scarf.

My favorite piece in this outfit is the army green jacket. This is a piece that every Fashionista should have in her fall wardrobe because of its versatility. The green complements black and brown, which is critical because these two colors make up a large part of fall and winter wardrobes.

One Simple Change: For a nice dinner out with your parents, swap the boots for a pair of gray booties. They will add a more formal touch without having to change the entire outfit.
