As summer comes to an end, I try to catch up with old high school friends before we all head our separate ways. Usually we go into town to this cute little diner to share stories about changing majors, summer trips we’ve taken and what we expect the year to bring. All this unpredictable weather here in the Midwest has gotten me in the habit to layer up for temperatures to rise and drop like the Mega Drop at the county fair.
The ultimate versatile outfit is a simple sundress, an oversized flannel and a cute pair of booties. If it gets a little toasty where you are, you can always tie your flannel around your waist. Let’s focus on the shoes here—I absolutely love booties! They are an obsession of mine. This Fashionista has chosen simple brown ones that complement her floral sleeve shift dress from Urban Outfitters.
As we chatted, I asked to look at her phone case that has a historic art print—literally! It’s Starry Night by Van Gogh. This Fashionista mentioned that since she got, it she has encountered some very interesting conversations. She inspired me to splurge on a unique phone case before school starts. I believe you can never have too many accessories that contribute as a conversation starter.
This Fashionista’s combination of straight hair, simple accessories and a low-key outfit is perfect for a quick outing with her friends. Sometimes simplicity is the key. This outfit is super cute. If I could stereotype it to a classified “girl type,” I would say girl next door.
One Simple Change: There are a few music festivals left this summer and a few this fall. If you want to add some edge for one like Austin City Limits, rise up for the occasion with a pair of chunky sole platforms.
