When cold weather kicks in, sometimes even the most creative of Fashionistas fall into a style slump. To be honest, the frigid winds just make me want to hibernate under my warm blanket and hide from the world until Punxsutawney Phil (the Groundhog Day groundhog) declares the sun’s return. Unfortunately, hibernation is not an option for us, humans, so it’s time to stop wearing the same boring winter jacket and think of a solution to your style rut.
My suggestion is two-fold. First, make the drab weather more exciting by planning a fun outing with your friends. This will give you an incentive to not only face the outside wind, but have a good time in it. Second, toss aside that bulky winter coat and invest in a sharp peacoat. A peacoat is trendy and effectively blocks out the cold. Wear the coat with a cute dress and tights for a jaunty look that’s perfect for an adventurous day with friends.
This Fashionista has the perfect out-with-friends ensemble with her navy blue peacoat and white turtleneck dress. She spruces up the base of her outfit by color-blocking a pair of navy tights (that match her coat) with bright teal flats and a yellow messenger bag (the bookish alternative to a purse). Her outfit’s color palette makes it stand out in the best of ways whilst her peacoat and tights keep her warm.
If you want to wear a dress on a winter’s day like this Fashionista does stock up on stockings by purchasing black, colored and patterned tights. Although it’s always good to have your trusty pair of black tights, colored and patterned tights make an outfit more interesting. Follow this Fashionista’s lead by teaming a white dress with navy blue tights that complement a navy blue peacoat. Then, color-block by wearing a pair of teal or yellow flats. For more warmth, wear a cardigan on top of the dress and add a knitted turban to keep your ears from freezing.
