I love a classic girl who dresses with a ’60s aesthetic, so when I spotted this Fashionista hanging out on the quad I knew I had to snap her picture! Her outfit is so simple, cute, and totally quirky. The entire look is very Carey Mulligan in An Education meets Zooey Deschanel.
Besides the very ’60s school-girl vibe I am also obsessed with the color palette this Fashionista chose. It is simple but still vibrant. The brightness of her cardigan is a nice juxtaposition to the simple tones of the rest of her outfit. The striped scarf ties the entire look together and adds some holiday cheer. Her little oxfords and satchel bag give the look a more androgynous feel and balance out the girly-ness of the skirt and cardigan.
To get this Fashionista’s classic school-girl look the most important two pieces would be the skirt and cardigan. I would suggest trying this cardigan from Urban Outfitters and this skirt from American Apparel. As far as shoes go you can do a heeled oxford like our Fashionista has chosen to or a simple more androgynous flat one. As for tights the options are endless, you can do a more neutral fall color like the one our Fashionista opted for or you could wear more festive polka-dot ones, the options are endless! As far as bags go keep it simple and structured like this one here.
One Simple Change: To take this look from casual cute to date night ready I would swap the oxfords for some black heels and ditch the colored tights for some sheer ones. Grab a black clutch and you are ready to go!
