At San Francisco State University, Malcolm X Plaza is the place is to be on campus. A venue for many of the school’s clubs and organizations, there is always something going on. Clubs host games for fundraisers, organizations raise awareness for causes and musicians perform. Students gather around this area daily, to chat with friends, eat their lunch or just hang out.
This week, I spotted a Fashionista near the plaza, sporting one of street fashion’s most popular trends, wearing tights with shorts. It works with almost everything and you can either dress them up or down. It’s a fun mix to put together. You can’t go wrong when it comes to the tights and shorts duo. Not to mention the fact that you’re able to successfully wear shorts during the cold weather without freezing your legs off.
For a casual yet put together look, this Fashionista kept things simple by going with black colored tights. Her white graphic tee has a rock ‘n’ roll vibe, while her dark blue parka adds a pop of color. She made the look a little more edgy, by wearing a pair of faux leather shorts and combat boots. I like how this Fashionista opted for shorts that were of a different material. I’ve seen denim cut off shorts paired with tights way too many times so it was nice to see something new. For accessories, this Fashionista chose a tan tote bag.
One Simple Change: This outfit can be easily changed into something to wear for a day out with friends. Simply replace the blue parka with a denim vest. For a more casual and practical look, swap the tote bag for either a canvas backpack or small cross-body bag.
