NYU is notorious for being a “different” type of university. A lack of borders and gates confining us within a small patch of greenery means we are wholly immersed in Manhattan all day, every day. We aren’t located in isolation, with a cute little neighboring town featuring one main street scattered with a few go-to shops and restaurants. With that said, NYU certainly is not for everyone and definitely doesn’t offer a traditional college experience, but while we may not have a campus, you are guaranteed to find a chunk of the student population hanging out in Washington Square Park as soon as it becomes warm enough to do so.
On a day like today, sitting in the park with an iced drink from Argo is probably a more pleasant way to spend your break between classes than sitting in Bobst. I found Elizabeth doing just that. She was dressed in a coral printed maxi skirt by Bar III, a simple tank and denim jacket and a pair of Sam Edelman gladiators and Free People sunglasses.
For a breezy approach to warm weather, maxi skirts are definitely one of my favorite pieces. Try this Splendid watercolor striped skirt for a comfortable and effortless look. Maxis can sometimes appear overwhelming so tuck a simple white tank into the skirt and top with a relaxed denim jacket by Paige. Gladiator sandals are guaranteed to resurface around springtime so feel free to break them out.
We may not have a quad, but Washington Square Park surely isn’t a bad alternative. Take advantage of the last few days while you can and stroll over to one of the best parks in the city.
One Simple Change: Maxis are a great transition piece from day to night. If you are planning to go out with friends, switch the denim jacket for a blazer.
