As the weather warms up here in Virginia the quad becomes packed with students hanging out and catching up with friends between classes. The atmosphere here at JMU in the spring is like no other; everyone is cheerful and friendly! Walking through the quad on the way to class is great place to spot JMU’s latest fashion trends. I’ve noticed that patterns are huge this season! Trendy prints on pants, rompers, dresses and skirts have been making a huge mark on the Fashionistas of JMU. These are great for the warmer weather and they are also easy to find in your favorite stores. Check out this pattern wide-leg pant from Urban Outfitters!
This week’s Fashionista is sporting an appropriate springtime attire for a day on the quad. I love her “Paisley Ruffled Romper” from Forever 21. This paisley pattern is extremely popular down below the Mason-Dixon line. This northern girl was able to make this statement pattern wearable with the warm colorful tones and style of the romper! When wearing bold patterns less is more. For example if you wear a skirt with a bold pattern or print pair it with a solid top. Rompers are great for the bold pattern trend because there is not much fabric to them.
I liked how she wore a pair of silver Hamptons Navajo Jack Roger sandals to complete this look. This classic sandal can polish up any look like it did here. For jewelry this Fashionista went simple with a silver necklace and bracelet. To shield her eyes from the sun she wore her favorite pair of aviator Ray-Bans.
One Simple Change: Swap the Jack Roger sandals for a pair of wedges like these from Steve Madden for a causal date night!
